Slantwise Design was founded in 2003. After an idyllic childhood and an awkward adolescence, we have blossomed into a skilled, stable, emotionally mature consulting firm.
Our Founders
Jonathan Dahl
Jonathan Dahl co-founded Slantwise Design in 2003. He started using Ruby on Rails in 2005, and since then, he has led development of more than a dozen Rails applications. Other interests include usability, startups, and kickball. Jon presented at RailsConf 2007 and helped found the Ruby Users of Minnesota, one of the strongest Ruby user groups in the country. Todd Emmel
Todd Emmel co-founded Slantwise Design in 2003. Prior to that, he was a web developer at dot-bust startup. He writes CSS and Ruby on Rails, manages projects, enforces usability, and thinks that waterfall project management is making a comeback.
Our People
Luke Francl
Luke Francl joined Slantwise in late 2006 from the Java world. He was previously the lead developer on an digital asset management system. Luke became one of the founding members of the Ruby Users of Minnesota after discovering Ruby on Rails in 2005. His personal blog is Just Looking.
Andy Kvamme
Andy Kvamme is a web developer and QA tester. He enjoys building and breaking things, whether a Rails app or a Honda 76 cb750 motorcycle.
Norm Orstad
Norm is a web designer that discovered the joys of CSS accidentally in 2004. He hasn’t looked back since and he is pretty sure that he can tell the difference between RGB and CMYK. He is one of the few NASCAR fans that has been to an opera.
Dan Weinand
Dan Weinand has been developing in Ruby since before it was cool. He's led development on several Rails projects and believes in BDD with mocks.
Eric Chapweske
Eric Chapweske is a Ruby on Rails enthusiast with a passion for developing exceptional user experiences. When not dreaming in Ruby, Eric can probably be found in a kitchen perfecting his Korean cooking skills.
